This workshop
is for you!

• This two-day workshop of awareness and skill building aims to facilitate a better understanding of the problem of conjugal violence and to propose actions with the potential to resolve this problem.

• It is offered by a multidisciplinary team whose combined expertise includes :
  social analysis,

• intervention on behalf of female victims of violence,

• pastoral experience.

Objectives of the session

• Become aware of the problem of conjugal violence;

• Become conscious of our own prejudices in order to favour changes in attitudes;

• Take a look at the problem of conjugal violence in light of the following causes : economics, patriarchy and religious history;

• Undertake a socio-pastoral reflection leading to some liberating actions;

• Take a look at conjugal violence in terms of detection, supportive care, and referral, in order to discover ways that individuals could help;

• Discover existing resources and develop potential actions for individuals and for the community.

Disturbing statistics

Every day, women are victims of conjugal violence. Each week, the media report incidents of family tragedy. Unfortunately, such events rarely happen only once.

According to recent statistics, one in four women will be subjected to conjugal violence at some time in her life, and each year one in ten women is killed.

Participating in the workshop, "A Heritage of Violence?" is a tangible way of improving your own ability to intercede and contribute to breaking the cycle of conjugal violence.
